This section includes documentation on commonly inquired aircraft airframe components and parts not included elsewhere in the Resource Repository. They relate to different aircraft systems such as indicatively their landing gear, electrical, or safety systems witth references to their respective components, parts and their assemblies (e.g. their wheels and brakes, tires and wheels, lighting and other electrical supplies, safety & rescue equipment and so on......).

Wheels and brakes form part of an aircraft landing gear system. They both serve vital functions for safe and reliable ground operations during takeoff, landing and taxiing. They are subject to extreme forces, stress, as well as wear and tear from general operation and the environment.

Wheels, used in conjunction with tires, provide support for the tires and weight of the aircraft. Combined with brakes, they assist in directional and stopping control during aircraft ground maneuvers, taxi, takeoff, and landing.

Screws and Bolts

Screws and bolts are commonly used as structural and non-structural fastening materials in aerospace, military and a wide range of industrial applications. Although quite often these terms are used interchangeably, screws differ from bolts as they are generally made of lower strength materials.Screws can be installed with a loose fitting thread, and the head shapes are made to engage a screwdriver or wrench. Some screws have a clearly defined grip (unthreaded portion) while others are threaded along their entire length (fully threaded).
